Democrat Rick Weiland and Republican Stace Nelson stood together for a short time on Monday afternoon in a unified effort to take on Republican Mike Rounds.

The two men are running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by the retiring Tim Johnson.

Weiland has frequently issued the charge throughout the campaign that the constituents will get overlooked because the former Governor is getting money from the outside the state……..

Nelson accepted the invitation to be part of the proceedings and  says outside money hurts the political process….

Weiland is the only Democrat running for the U.S. Senate seat while Nelson faces a primary challenge from Rounds, Jason Ravensborg of Yankton, Annette Bosworth of Sioux Falls and Larry Rhoden of Union Center.  Larry Pressler is a former Republican running as an Independent who will be on the ballot this fall.  Gordon Howie also recently announced that he will try to run as an Independent if he can get enough signatures by April 29.
