Dementia Epidemic Predicted

The Baby Boom generation is getting older and experts say there will be an epidemic of dementia. Kathie Bickerstaff is with the Nebraska Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and agrees with what those experts say.

Bickerstaff says family members most often notice something is wrong when an elderly person starts misplacing things or making odd decisions. She says getting lost is a big problem.

Bickerstaff says they also recommend changing and adding locks on doors. She says never lock a person with dementia inside a house to keep them from wandering as that could lead to other dangers. For more tips and resources contact the Alzheimer’s Association.
