Delmont Remembers Year Ago Tornado

The bells of Hope Lutheran Church rang one year to the minute that an EF-2 tornado tore through small town of Delmont (SD) as the community paused to remember. The twister took out nearly 50 structures, including homes, a new fire hall and century old church. Yet former Mayor Mae Gunnare says today’s a time to celebrate the town’s remarkable recovery……

She said while the tornado may have changed the community, it failed to destroy it…….

Gunnare is inviting everyone to the celebration that includes a community supper, followed by a program and prayer.
