Nebraska State Senators debated tax relief legislation on Friday. No resolution was reached even though Revenue Committee Chairman Senator Jim Smith offered an amendment to provide more property tax relief to LB 461, which was heavily weighted towards income tax relief. Nebraska Cattlemen Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says they support the additional reform but it’s just a start.
She says LB 461 needs a significant overhaul for the ag community to support it.
Field says they’re not surprised Senators are looking at the idea of putting several tax relief measures together in one package.
Field says the tax relief debate will likely take at least two weeks before any compromise is reached.
