Even as petitioners fan out across Nebraska seeking signatures to get the death penalty on the November ballot next year, opponents will be trying to persuade people NOT to sign.
ACLU of Nebraska has received 400-Thousand dollars to fight the petition campaign.
Executive Director Danielle Conrad says the message is simple.
Conrad says the coalition wants to block the issue from reaching the ballot.
If the petition succeeds, the coalition plans to mount a campaign to oppose reinstatement of the death penalty.
