One of the final pieces of the 2017 South Dakota legislature is figuring out a funding package for a new animal diagnostic lab at SDSU in Brookings.
House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte says they have some workable options…..

The lab will cost over sixty-five million dollars. Qualm says they plan to build the lab without using many general fund dollars…..

The lab would be built with a state bond, paid back over thirty years by some of the property tax relief authorized in last year’s sales tax increase.
