South Dakota Secretary of State Shantel Krebs says voter registration numbers are increasing
There are 520-thousand 636 registered voters in South Dakota with 54-thousand 55 inactive voters. As of May 5th, there are over 240-thousand registered Republicans, and 167-thousand registered Democrats. Those claiming to be Independent or without a party affiliation are 109-thousand strong and there are 506 registered for the Constitution party. Twenty-one hundred 47 are listed as other. Those who can’t wait until the June primary can vote right now
The Democratic primary is open to all registered Democrats and voters registered as Independent with no party affiliation. The Republican primary is limited to registered Republicans only.
