Grain farmers and dairy producers have until September 30 to sign up for the ARC, PLC and Dairy Margin Protection programs at their county FSA office. South Dakota Farm Service Agency Executive Director Craig Schaunaman says some producers got confused when they made elections earlier this spring thinking they had signed up. He says now is when they need to make their choices official.

He says the most popular program so far with grain farmers has been the ARC county program.

Schaunaman says the margin protection program is new for dairy producers, but is one they should consider signing up for.

Schaunaman advises producers to have their records available with them and their production history when they come in to sign up.
