Mount Marty alumni will be getting a phone call today from students and other college officials reaching out for scholarship donations. Shannon Viereck, the Director of Annual Giving, says five generous donors have given the college a $45,000 dollar challenge grant that will be used to match other scholarship donations. To gather those donations, Mount Marty will be holding their Inaugural Day of Calling.
Viereck says the money donated through this effort, and the matching funds from the challenge grant, will go to help students through their general scholarships.
The Day of Calling will begin Thursday from 10:00 am, and students will continue calling alumni members until 8:00 pm with a goal of reaching out to 1,000 people. The challenge grant, however, will continue to match funds donated all year.
The donors that provided the $45,000 grant include Dr. Al Kurtenbach of Brookings, Dan and Deb Specht and Jean Smith of Yankton, David and Jan Johnson of Watertown, and Dr. Richard and Diana Foster of New Castle, Indiana.
