South Dakota State’s Mike Daum was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Tuesday as part of the 2017-18 Honors Court, celebrating men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.
To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year. Additionally, the honoree must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and play for an NCAA or NAIA program with a NABC member coach.
Daum, who graduated this May with a bachelor’s degree in advertising, is a two-time Associated Press honorable mention All-American and Summit League Player of the Year. He led the Jackrabbits to their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and was one of three players nationally to average more than 20 points (23.9) and 10 rebounds (10.3) per contest this season.
