The Summit League named South Dakota State forward Mike Daum as its player of the week on Monday after the redshirt freshman helped lead the Jackrabbits to a pair of key road wins at Oral Roberts and at South Dakota.
A Kimball, Neb., native, and the first SDSU freshmen to win the league’s weekly honor, Daum averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds off the bench in the two road wins, which includes a career-high tying 23 points in the win at South Dakota on Saturday, when he also added a game-high 11 rebounds for his second-career double-double.
Daum, who shares this week’s award with John Konchar from Fort Wayne, opened the week with a 15 point, 7 rebound performance off the bench on Thursday in a win at Oral Roberts in 21 minutes on the floor.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Thursday, when they close the first half of league play against league-leading Omaha. The Jacks and Mavericks tip at 7 p.m.
