South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard gave his 2015 budget plan to the legislature this afternoon in a speech in the House chamber.
He began by looking back at the budget cuts that were made in 2011.

Daugaard says legislators have managed to move a surplus forward.

Daugaard says the state continues to grow the rainy day fund.

In the budget, the Governor proposed a two percent increase in funding for state schools, and for state employee raises. The legislature will debate the proposal, and pass it as one of the final bills before they adjourn in March.
