South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has confirmed the arrest of a man involved in an incident this (Thurs) morning that resulted in a Charles Mix County officer firing shots into a vehicle.
Jackley says the other passenger was a juvenile who has also been detained. The pickup truck involved has been recovered by police. Forty year old Russell Turner was arrested at his home in Wagner.
Turner’s criminal history includes conviction for aggravated assault in 1997 for which he was sentenced to 7 years at the state penitentiary. Outstanding warrants include intentional damage to property, failure to appear or report felony, and driving with a suspended license.
The Division of Criminal Investigation will continue analyzing the shooting officer’s actions.
