The Corps of Engineers says Crest Road, that crosses Gavins Point Dam across the Missouri River, will be closed again Monday night through late Tuesday afternoon. That is because of the ongoing repair work on the spillway gates.
Gavins Point Operations Manager Dave Becker says workers have been out on the gates for several weeks…
Becker says they hope to come back in the spring to finish the work…
Much of the repair is tied to the pounding the dam took during the flood of 2011. Releases ran up to one hundred sixty five thousand cubic feet per second for much of that summer.
Becker says they also have almost finished replacing most of the large transformers in the electrical yard next to the dam…
Becker says they will have another round of electrical upgrades next year.
