Dakota Wesleyan Claims Crown

 The Dakota Wesleyan women shot a final round of 335 on Friday to claim the  Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Championship with a four round total of 1329. 

The title is the Tigers seventh consecutive GPAC championship. The 335 was the team low score on the day at the fourth and final GPAC women’s golf qualifier at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa.  The final qualifier was hosted by Northwestern College.

In the final team standings Mount Marty finished second with 1411 over 72 holes, while Nebraska Wesleyan took third, six strokes back at 1417.

Individually Lauren Fitts from Dakota Wesleyan shot a round of 79 on the day to repeat as the GPAC Player-of-the-Year with a four round total of 323.  Amy Ahlers from Concordia and Logan Wagner of Mount Marty tied for second overall with a 330. Emma Wynja from Northwestern, medalist of GPAC Qualifier #4 (77) took fourth with 322. April Barnett and Kristin Fabers of Dakota Wesleyan tied for fifth.

Dakota Wesleyan will represent the GPAC at the 2015 NAIA Women’s Golf Championships held at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Georgia.
