The South Dakota Rail Board gave Dakota Southern Railroad ninety days to make improvements to state owned track between Mitchell and Chamberlain, part of the MRC line. An inspection showed a number of problem areas along the route.

Rail Board Chairman Todd Yeaton of Kimball says they are seeing repairs being made

That line is also being rebuilt from Chamberlain west to Presho.

Yeaton says that new construction is on track

South Dakota Wheatgrowers had the grand opening of their elevator and grain loading facility in Kenebec earlier this month.

Service on the MRC line should begin late this summer.
