The Lincoln County South Dakota Commission this week tabled a decision on setbacks for wind projects in the county. Brian Minish, supporter of the Dakota Power Community Wind Project says the current setback is a quarter mile. He says an original proposal had been made to make that one mile and that has been changed to a half mile. Minish says neither of those is workable.

He says discussion on the project has been going on for 3.5 years with no decision, which is frustrating.

Minish says Lincoln County Commissioners did approve a regulation requiring decibel levels for wind projects at 45 decibels to the property line and 5 decibels above ambient levels at residences. He says although they don’t like that they can work with that requirement.

Minish says one commissioner told him it could take six weeks for them to make a decision on a possible resolution.
