United States Trade Ambassador Katherine Tai held a round table talk in Washington State and heard from some dairy farmers on priorities for their industry that they share with the National Milk Producers Federation. Federation Senior Vice President of Trade Policy Shawna Morris says their primary goal is to extend market access for U.S. dairy.
She says another key trade agreement is the USMCA and more work needs to be done to make sure that deal is properly enforced.
Morris says some of the fastest growth for U.S. dairy exports is in Southeast Asia.
Morris says China and Japan are both also good dairy export destinations. She says one of the problems they’re running into lately is the scarcity of containers for export shipments.
