Dairy Producers Encouraged To Sign Up For Margin Protection Program

This Friday is the deadline for dairy producers to sign up for the only safety net left to them in the farm bill. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says it’s the margin protection program and provides the only protection dairy producers have open to them.
Galen says the window of time to sign up is short. He says producers won’t get any other government help to shield them against tighter margins and lower milk prices.
Producers need to check with their local farm service agency office for more details.
