New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, chair of the Senate Ag Sub-committee on Dairy says she’s moving forward with a dairy pricing hearing. Front and center in that hearing is the class 1 fluid milk pricing change made in the 2018 farm bill. South Dakota Dairy Producers President Marv Post says he’s glad to see they’re looking at the issue and hopes they take their time and find consensus from all dairy interests.

He says his group has been working on the federal milk marketing order issue which is complicated and trying to find a workable solution for dairies in all parts of the country.

Post says each section of the country has a different take on what’s best for dairies and finding an agreeable fix is the challenge.

Although no date has yet been confirmed for the dairy price hearing, it’s suppose to occur sometime after the August recess.
