Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says he sees an opening to pass immigration reform this year. He says now is the time to get the legislation completed prior to the primary elections and it getting bogged down in politics.  South Dakota Dairy Association President Marv Post says while it won’t be easy to pass, lawmakers shouldn’t shy away from it and should get forward on completing it.

Post says a solid immigration program is needed that provides producers a good and legal workforce that can help them get the job done on their operations without government interference.

Post says the Senate’s already passed their legislation so it’s now up to the House to get something passed even if it has to be changed later.
