The defeat in the Virginia Primary of House Leader Eric Cantor by Tea Party Challenger David Brat leaves the fate of passing immigration reform in flux. Minnesota Milk Producers President Pat isn’t sure what that means for passing that needed legislation.
Lunemann says passing an immigration bill is the top priority for dairy leaders from Minnesota, Iowa, South and North Dakota and Nebraska. He says ag workers are badly needed and without a good immigration package that may not happen.
Lunemann says the extreme fringe in both parties has been blocking immigration legislation and that needs to change.
The Senate which passed an immigration measure last year is still waiting for the House to follow suit.
