President Obama says since the House hasn’t passed immigration reform legislation he plans to act on his own. He’s asked the Attorney General and Homeland Security Secretary to review what his options are. One thing the President is looking for is granting work permits to some of the 12 million illegal immigrants. South Dakota Dairy Association President Marv Post says whatever comes out of that or from Congress needs to be a permanent fix.
Post says eventually the President and Congress need to work together to find a workable long term solution to the nation’s immigrant problem.
The Attorney General and Homeland Security Secretary have been directed to report back to the President on immigration reform options by the end of summer.
