The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative recently issued a report that showed several impediments to U.S. dairy exports. Both the National Milk Producers Federation and U.S. Dairy Export Council are pleased those problems were recognized. Jaime Castenada, Senior Vice President of Policy, Strategy and International Trade for NMPF says the next step is for the U.S.T.R. to take action to correct those problems, and increase market opportunities.

He also says the USTR needs to hold Canada’s feet to the fire and make sure they’re living up to their commitments in the USMCA agreement.

Castaneda says tariff and non-tariff trade barriers continue to be a problem with many countries and most notably with the European Union.

The latest report from the USTR indicated trade issues with Mexico, Canada, China and the European Union.
