The National Milk Producers Federation along with the U.S. Dairy Export Council want the Trump administration to robustly enforce the USMCA trade deal that went into effect this week. Minnesota Milk Producers Associations Executive Director Lucas Sjostrom says the main concern with any possible enforcement is with Canada.

He says keeping trade intact between the U.S. and Mexico is an important component of the USMCA deal.

Sjostrom says another positive part of USMCA is it provides a little better access for U.S. dairy into Canada.

According to the International Trade Commission if USMCA is implemented as negotiated U.S. dairy exports are projected to increase by more than $314 million a year.
