The National Milk Producers Federation along wit the U.S. Dairy Export Council has sent a list of dairy trade priorities to just confirmed USTR Katherine Tai.
Federation and Export Council Vice President of Trade Policy Shawna Morris says one of their primary issues is making sure the USMCA Trade agreement is properly enforced with both Canada and Mexico needing to comply.

She says one of the problems with Mexico lately is they’re placing new regulations on U.S. cheese imported into their country.

Morris says the other priority is trade with China and while Phase one seems to be working there are some difficulties with higher tariffs the U.S. is facing.

Morris says U.S. dairy exports have been growing steadily over the past ten years and now surpass $ 6.5 billion annually. She says NMPF and USDEC’s focus is on upholding current trade deals and forging new ones.
