The National Milk Producers Federation and Minnesota Milk Producers Association are pleased with the improved access provided producers to the Paycheck Protection Program. Minnesota Milk Producer’s Association Executive Director Lucas Sjostrom says under the recently approved stimulus measure, Congress provided new PPP access for sole proprietors, independent contractors or otherwise self employed individuals.

He says the PPP corrections were needed to make sure dairy producers are treated fairly and can access those needed funds as they’ve been suffering losses due to the pandemic.

Sjostrom advises dairy farmers to check with their tax advisors and at least consider applying for the assistance.

South Dakota Senator John Thune was among four Congress people who led efforts to get that added access for producers.
