The National Milk Producers Federation along with the International Dairy Foods Association are opposing a measure introduced last week in the House to allow for interstate sales of raw milk. That practice has been banned for decades while states have been given the authority to decide for themselves whether or not to allow raw milk sales. Federation’s Chris Galen says they’re against the bill because of health concerns.
Galen says the biggest problem with raw milk is its effects on young people.
Galen says there aren’t many co sponsors of the legislation in the House and there’s no companion measure yet in the Senate. He’s hoping they’ll be able to stop the bill in its tracks in the House before it can build any momentum.
