The dairy industry is hoping conferees will move on a transportation bill the first part of December and include in it an important milk trucker’s provision. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says that component was in the House transportation bill and they’re hoping to get it melded with the Senate’s legislation.

He says this provision is very important for the Eastern part of the country where there are numerous dairy processing plants and dairy farmers.

Milk is a perishable product that must be sealed for safety and transported quickly Galen says because of that this provision is an important one to ensure safety.

Recently a bi partisan group of nine U.S. Senators urged the conference committee to include the provision in the final transportation legislation.
