Last week lawmakers were able to agree on a cloture vote on Trade Promotion Authority by allowing a vote on a separate measure to address currency manipulation. National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson, whose group supports the currency manipulation bill, doesn’t think it has a very good chance of getting approved in the House or avoiding a Presidential veto.
Johnson says if currency manipulation isn’t dealt with the ever widening trade deficit will grow.
Johnson says the Senate passed the currency manipulation bill by an overwhelming margin so they recognized the need to deal with the problem. He says House Speaker John Boehner and President Obama are ignoring the problem that’s led to job losses and the large trade deficit.
