The agent for free-agent forward Dante Cunningham says his client plans to file a civil lawsuit against the woman who accused him of domestic assault.

Agent Joel Bell tells The Associated Press that Cunningham wants to clear his name after authorities dismissed a felony assault charge against Cunningham on Monday. The woman accused Cunningham of choking her in April.

After a four-month investigation, the Hennepin County prosecutor announced that the charge was dismissed because “there was not proof beyond a reasonable doubt for the charged offense.”

Cunningham had to put his search for a new contract on hold while the investigation was conducted. Now he says he is eager move on and sign a deal, perhaps with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team he has played for the last two seasons.
