Sign up in South Dakota for the Conservation Reserve Program has been brisk so far. That’s according to Farm Service Agency CRP Manager Owen Fagerhaug. He says beyond the program’s usual popularity there is more interest in CRP due to the recent low commodity prices.
Fagerhaug advises those interested in signing up for CRP to have detailed conservation goals because bidding for the general CRP will be very competitive during this round.
He says there are many environmental benefits to CRP.
The general CRP sign up deadline is the end of the business day on February 26 at your local county Farm Service Agency office.
