More than 800,000 acres were enrolled nationally in the 49th sign-up period for the Conservation Reserve Program. South Dakota Farm Service Agency CRP Coordinator Owen Fagerhaug says that includes three CRP programs…the CRP grasslands, general and continuous sign-up.
He says they’re still compiling how the general CRP program acreage breaks down for South Dakota enrollment. Meanwhile, Fagerhaug says the continuous CRP signup is another option for farmers and involves environmentally sensitive lands.
He says CRP remains very popular in South Dakota among the state’s farmers and ranchers.
Fagerhaug says those interested in the continuous CRP enrollment or any of the CRP programs should stop by their local county FSA office for more information.
