Crow Wing County is home to over 400 of Minnesota’s cleanest and most popular lakes. County environmental services supervisor Jacob Frie says to keep their status as Minnesota’s favorite place, the county is vigilant in assessing some of the biggest lakes in the area. Measuring phosphorous, oxygen and nitrogen levels along with water clarity.
Frie says they don’t monitor individual beaches for e-coli, a responsibility that instead falls at the local level.
