Crop Protection Products In Short Supply

Crop Protection Products In Short Supply

Farmers are only weeks away from planting this year’s crop, but higher prices and shortages of crop protection products have created some challenges for regional farmers.  In many cases, farmers have placed their orders for products, but are still waiting for their herbicides to arrive at the dealer’s warehouse.  Dave Clark serves as the president of the South Dakota Agri-Business Association. He recommends talking with your crop protection dealer.

Clark says it appears pre-emergence herbicides may be more available than post-emergence products.

Clark says there may not be an actual shortage of the product, but it is not arriving on a timely basis.

As for the allocation of the product, Clark believes farmers with contracts that have already paid for the product will be serviced first.
