Crop Insurance Targeted for Cuts….Again

Farm groups are defending the farm bill with the crop insurance program under fire again. Chandler Goule with the National Farmers Union says this risk management program should not be such a target for budget cuts when it has been so cost effective.

Goule says those groups trying to reopen the farm bill need to realize that farm safety net programs like crop insurance benefit not only agriculture, but the entire economy.

He says crop insurance is also a program that taxpayers should favor because at least farmers have skin in the game when they pay their premiums.
