Crop Insurance Incentive Program Available For Iowa Farmers

Iowa farmers who planted cover crops this fall have until January 15 to sign up for a crop insurance premium reduction. Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says Iowa is working with USDA’s Risk Management Agency to provide the incentive through this pilot program.

He says those wishing to receive the reduction should go to the Clean Water Iowa.org website and sign up.

Naig says cover crops have been growing in popularity with Iowa’s farmers and they fit in well with the state’s nutrient reduction management strategy.

Naig says they’ll know in a couple of weeks how many have signed up for the crop insurance premium reduction.
