Crop Insurance Deadline Looming

Crop Insurance Deadline Looming

The Risk Management Agency’s Margin Protection Crop Insurance program deadline is fast approaching at the end of the month. Dave Hubbs with Hubbs crop insurance in Yankton says September 30 is the enrollment deadline for Margin Protection and for fall winter wheat and alfalfa and forage policies. He says margin protection is extra coverage ahead of the normal revenue protection program.

Margin Protection uses a price discovery period of mid August to mid September and that Hubbs says that makes it an attractive program for farmers as there are high prices offered for the 2022 crop.

He says drought this year has hit the Yankton area very hard so his office has been quite busy with crop insurance policies and helping producers.

Again the signup deadline for Margin Protection Crop Insurance along with fall winter wheat and forages is September 30 so interested farmers need to work with their local crop insurance agent.
