Center for Rural Affairs officials want strong conservation programs preserved in the new farm bill. The Center’s Policy Program Associate Anna Johnson says they’d like to see solid funding for two major conservation programs, CSP and EQIP.

She says her group wants the Congressional Ag Committees writing the farm bill to make it simpler for farmers to use conservation and crop insurance together to their benefit.

Johnson says they’d also like to see conservation tied to crop insurance premiums.

Johnson is pleased Congress is working on the new farm bill as the present one expires next year and the sooner they get it done the better.
