A dozen lawmakers Led by Arkansas Congressman Rick Crawford have sent a letter to the U.S Trade Representative about the growing influence of the Chinese Government in Latin America and Caribbean trade and economic development Coalition for a Prosperous America CEO Michael Stumo says the letter points out a symptom not the cause which is China consuming more U.S. products at the expense of our trade deficit.

He says the way to stop China from gaining ground over us for export markets is to quit giving them so much money through the trade deficit.

Stumo says the competition over the Latin American markets isn’t worth it since they’re so small. He says we keep surrendering our home market to China which is the real problem.

The dozen lawmakers who sent the letter want the USTR to know the highest priority of the U.S. must be to keep its relationship strong with our Western Hemisphere neighbors.
