China’s Vice Premier is due in the United States next month for further trade talks. That meeting is scheduled for October 7. Coalition for a Prosperous America CEO Michael Stumo says those discussions involve not just agricultural trade but also national security issues.
He says it’s positive trade talks are being conducted involving agriculture but the U.S. needs not to depend on China for trade of commodities going forward.
Stumo says the U.S. needs to be firm in dealing with China as they’ve been a bad actor as it relates trade deals.
There’s been an apparent thaw in the trade war between the U.S. and China as Chinese buyers recently purchased between 600,000 and 1.6 million metric tons of soybeans for delivery between October and December. They also reportedly are looking to buy U.S. pork.
