Coalition for a Prosperous America officials have been speaking with NAFTA negotiators and are encouraging them to include provisions in the agreement to allow for reinstatement of U.S. Country of Origin Labeling. CPA Board member Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF is drafting the letter to send to the negotiators.
He says that COOL protection is needed so U.S. cattle producers can compete fairly with their competitors for global markets.
Bullard says without the U.S. COOL provision, President Trump can’t reach his goal of buy American and hire American.
Bullard says most countries have some type of labeling law in place including Australia which just recently added their own. He says Japan and several European Union countries also have origin labeling laws in place.
