South Dakota’s men’s golf team, which captured its first Summit League Championship Sunday, will compete at an NCAA Regional Championship in Bremerton, Wash., May 14-16.

It is the Coyotes’ first appearance at an NCAA regional meet since 2003 and first at the Division I level.

Golf Mountain Golf Club and University of Washington will play host to the 54-hole event. The course will play at 7,115 yards and is a par 72.

South Dakota is one of 14 teams that will compete in Bremerton. In all, 81 teams were selected to compete at one of six NCAA regional sites. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each region will advance to finals.

The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The University of South Florida is the host institution for the 2015 championships.

Four teams participating in the Bremerton Regional are currently ranked in the top 20 including South Carolina (No. 7), Washington (No. 14), USC (No. 16) and Baylor (No. 17).

The Coyotes are led by senior Sam Matthew, who placed third individually at the Summit League Championship Meet and has a 73.1 stroke average. Matthew has seven top-five finishes in 11 events this year. Junior Jordan Rykal has a 75.7 stroke average and sophomore Cody Seal is at 75.8. Both Matthew and Seal were named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team Sunday.
