Coyotes Sweep Summit Awards

South Dakota had four athletes sweep the Summit League Athlete of the Week awards.

Junior Sarah Schank and sophomore Isaac Morris took the Diver of the Week awards, while juniors Morgan Holt and Hunter Padgett took the Swimmer of the Week awards the league announced Tuesday.

This is the second honor of the season for Schank. She swept both the one-meter (258.75) and three-meter (277.05) dives on the first day of the USD Tri-Duals this past weekend and kept the momentum going into day two where she swept both events again. On the one-meter, she scored a 258.30 and on the three-meter, she finished with a 292.60.

Morris’ performance on the diving board earned him the third honor of his career. On day one, Morris finished in third on the one-meter dive with a score of 284.70 and fourth in the three-meter with a finishing score of 309.55. On day two, his 308.00 score in the one-meter placed him second and his score of 311.85 in the three-meter dive earned him first place.

This is the first such honor for Holt. Her first event of the Tri-Duals, she swam the third leg of the 400-yard medley relay that placed second with a time of 3 minutes, 53.93 seconds. Individually, she finished the 100-yard butterfly in third with a time of 58.66. Day two continued to bring promise for Holt as she won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.71.

Padgett received the second honor of his career. Starting off the weekend, Padgett swam the last leg of the 400-yard medley relay that took first with a time of 3:27.16. Individually, Padgett captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.74) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.69). He came out strong on the second day of the Tri-Duals and took the 200-yard freestyle again (1:43.77) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:48.92). Padgett swam the third leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay that captured first with a time of 3:07.72.
