University of South Dakota head men’s basketball coach Craig Smith has announced that Norfolk High School senior Tyler Hagedorn, a 6-foot-8-inch forward, has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Coyotes.
Hagedorn averaged 16.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 blocks per game in earning second-team all-Class A honors in the state of Nebraska as a junior last season. He helped lead the Panthers and head coach Ben Ries to the state semifinals. Ries played for the Coyotes from 1996-2000 and helped lead the Coyotes to back-to-back North Central Conference Championships.
“Tyler is a skilled player with excellent size and has a great feel for the game,” said Smith. “He is an excellent passer, a good rebounder and can score inside and out. He has the ability to play multiple positions.
“Tyler is an excellent student who is active in his community and his school. He will help us compete at the national level and we expect him to make an immediate impact on our program.”
Hagedorn has maintained a 3.85 grade point average at Norfolk. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, DECA and FBLA. Hagedorn also competes in track for the Panthers.
