University of South Dakota track and field athletes turned in some record performances over the weekend.
The Coyote men broke the school and state 4×100-meter relay record on the second day of Arizona State’s Baldy Castillo Invitational at Joe Selleh Track.
Junior Jack Thony, senior Teivaskie Lewin, senior Jeff O’Connell and sophomore Gawain Williams combined to run 40.15 seconds in the event to set the records. The relay placed fourth at the meet.
South Dakota senior Kyle McKelvey and junior Jet Moreland won the shot put and javelin, respectively, at the Tulsa Duels held at the Hurricane Track and Soccer Stadium.
McKelvey threw the shot put 58 feet, 9 ¼ inches to win. McKelvey set the outdoor school record of 63-1 ½ in 2014 before redshirting last spring.
