South Dakota stepped out of Summit League play for the weekend to score men’s and women’s victories against non-league foes.
Brandon Armstrong scored a career-high 24 points as the South Dakota men’s basketball team topped Peru State 98-55 in nonconference action Sunday afternoon inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
The Coyotes improve to 22-6 on the season, matching the most wins in a season for USD in the Division I era. Peru State, who is receiving votes in the NAIA national poll, played Sunday’s game as an exhibition and remains 16-10 overall.
South Dakota cruised to its 15th-straight victory with a 96-54 drubbing of Doane inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
South Dakota (21-5, 11-0 Summit) returns to Summit League action next week with three games remaining in the regular season. The game served as an exhibition for Doane (7-19, 2-16 GPAC).
All 13 Coyotes scored in the contest with five reaching double figures. Junior Jaycee Bradley scored a team-high 17 points in 17 minutes of action.
