South Dakota delighted home fans with Wednesday night victories in both women’s and men’s basketball.
Senior center Abigail Fogg scored a career high 25 points and sophomore guard Jaycee Bradley added 23 more as the Coyote women defeated the Big Ten’s Illinois 77-68 inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center Wednesday night.
South Dakota (7-2) has won back-to-back contests over Illinois with the first coming in Champaign last season. The Coyotes move to 6-8 all-time against B1G programs. Illinois (3-6) was the first Big Ten program, men or women, to visit Vermillion in 35 years.
Trey Burch-Manning and Tyler Peterson scored a game-high 15 points apiece to lead four South Dakota players in double figures in a 74-57 men’s win against Montana State .
The win moves the Coyotes to 5-0 in their new facility and 7-4 overall. Montana State, which got 13 points from Quinton Everett and 12 from Tyler Hall, fell to 5-5. These two teams will meet again 11 days from now in Bozeman, Mont. USD has won all three meetings since 2013.
