Eastern Washington knocked in the lone goal of the game in the 46th minute to defeat South Dakota 1-0 Sunday in Cheney, Washington.
After a scoreless first half with just two shots on goal between both squads, the Eagles made quick work in the second half for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Delaney Romero gained control of the ball at midfield and flipped a pass to Lexi Klinkenberg. She dribbled on the right side of the box and sent a low shot into the left corner.
South Dakota goalkeeper Coral Suarez faced 10 shots on frame, making nine saves. She had several saves to keep the Coyotes within striking distance including a diving stop in the 72nd minute as Saige Lyons took aim from 12 yards out. Suarez went lateral with the ground to make the save to her right and forced EWU to reset.
