South Dakota and South Dakota State are part of the final three teams alive in the Summit League Softball Championships.
The second-seeded Coyotes of South Dakota advanced to the Summit League softball tournament semifinals with a 5-1 win over No. 6 Purdue Fort Wayne in the second game of Thursdays triple header.
South Dakota advances to Friday’s semifinal and will take on No. 1 North Dakota State for a chance to move into the championship game.
South Dakota State scored six runs in the first inning and then had to weather a late rally by Purdue Fort Wayne to escape with narrow 7-6 victory and advance to Friday’s elimination game.The Jacks opened the day losing to NDSU 6-3.
South Dakota State advances to Friday’s elimination game against the loser of the North Dakota State and South Dakota contest at 1 p.m. The Jackrabbits elimination game will start at 3:30 p.m.
